Danville School seeks an experienced instructional leader with strong and demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, and directing the implementation of secondary school activities to serve as the next Middle School and High School (7th-12th) Principal. Our school is co-led by a two-principal team, and the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Elementary Principal to lead the school as a whole, providing separate grade-level instructional leadership, while maintaining a strong sense of unity across our PreK-12 learning environment. This will include continuing a strong, robust initiative to develop lasting, sustainable systems and protocols which provide the best education to Danville students and support for the staff.We are a PreK-12 learning community of 370 students. In addition to our local residents, Danville Middle and High School welcomes students from several neighboring towns, creating a unique educational environment.

We are a group of talented staff who strive to provide a quality educational experience centered upon equity, social-emotional development, diversified class offerings, athletics, clubs and more. Danville also offers a Technical and Experiential Learning program for students in grades 7-12 who benefit from a mix of traditional and hands-on learning opportunities. The Director of this program reports to the Superintendent but also has a dotted-line relationship with the co-Principals. Key Qualities of a Successful Candidate: -Knowledgeable in inclusive educational practices, equity ideals, UDL-Demonstrated ability to develop and foster positive relationships with students and staff at the secondary level.-Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, staff, parents, School Board and other community stakeholders.-Approachable and accessible leadership style with a reputation for being extremely visible and interactive on campus and at school events.-Familiarity with and commitment to restorative practices, maintaining accountability while also proactively reducing conflicts and behavioral challenges.-Steadfast belief that given the right structures, supports and boundaries, students are effective partners in creating a positive school climate.

Performance Responsibilities Include: -Instructional and community-wide leadership of a dynamic secondary school environment. -Sharing in the role of LEA or administrative representative at IEP, EST and 504 meetings. -Supervision and evaluation of employees, in coordination with the CCSU Leadership Team.-Sharing in the planning of staff and team meetings, and the implementation of effective professional learning community groups.-In conjunction with the leadership team and school counselor, create an annual master schedule of students and teachers.-Implement successful strategies for tuition student recruitment and retention.-Support investigations related to hazing, harassment and bullying, and work with student support and school counselors to provide educational opportunities designed to promote a safe learning environment.-Active and collaborative participation as a member of the SU Leadership Team.-Other duties or responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent.Benefits include health insurance, free dental insurance for the employee, free $100k life insurance policy, 15 sick days, 4 personal days, employer paid VT Principal's Assoc.
