The Canton Board of Education seeks a dynamic and innovative instructional leader to serve as Principal, Cherry Brook Primary School

The Town of Canton, Connecticut is a rural community nestled in the Farmington Valley, famous for Collinsville, its 19th-century industrial village that formed around the Collins
Axe Factory. With a population of 10,335, Canton offers a variety of activities for all ages, from outdoor adventures on the Farmington River, hiking and biking trails, to modern shops and fine dining establishments. At the heart of the Canton community are its schools. The Canton Public Schools continue to be a Lighthouse District, where our students and staff shine brightly and a district to which other districts throughout Connecticut look to replicate our success. Our District continues to be recognized for outstanding achievement in our academics, athletics, and arts programs.

The Canton Public Schools consists of four schools totaling approximately 1,550 students. Cherry Brook Primary School enrolls 450 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 3.

The Canton Board of Education consists of nine elected community members and two student representatives. Our dedicated Board members serve on many committees and work in the best interests of the students and families in Canton. The Board of Education works collaboratively with the Superintendent of Schools to prepare independent, productive, respectful and responsible citizens who contribute to an ever-changing world. We pursue continuous improvement while honoring strong educational legacy and traditions. We unite with families and the community to provide challenging educational experiences that promote the intellectual, physical, social and emotional potential of our students.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Principal of Cherry Brook Primary School shall administer and supervise the school in accordance with the policies and regulations set forth by the Canton Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools. The Principal will be responsible for the development and improvement of the educational and operational programs of the school. The Principal shall direct and evaluate the personnel of the school toward the satisfactory fulfillment of duties assigned to them and will be an educational leader. As such, the Principal may from time to time, be assigned the responsibilities by the Superintendent of Schools which are district-wide in scope. The Principal will carry out functions in pursuit of the goals and objectives of the Canton Public School system.

EXPERIENCE
Applicants must hold an Intermediate Administration or Supervision Certification (092) with Administrator/Leadership experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This 12 month Principal position offers a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. This is a union position that falls under the Administrator’s Association of Canton, Inc. Salary Range: $152,671 - $166,457.
