Position: Process Technician
Location: Waynesville, NC
Shift: 7a-7p
Pay: $24.43/hour

You will report to the Process Manager
You must have excellent attendance as it is crucial for the team to achieve success.

You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Complies with all company policies and procedures, including all safety policies and procedures.
· Facilitate the development of a safe workplace for all employees
· Maintains accuracy of processes during production. Modify processes as required for product orders
· Monitors operations process, work, and material flow to ensure that quality and customer specifications are met.
· Monitors cycle times to run at standard and adjusts as needed to maximize quality and output
· Performs preventative maintenance activities
· Conducts test and trial runs as needed
· Performs tool changes and repairs as needed, while following all HECP LOTO procedures
· Perform and/or assign all quality checks/burst testing/viscosity/weights
· Communicate with maintenance and vendors on supplies needed and work orders
· Good mechanical skills are required with the ability to troubleshoot machines
· Organization of tooling – maintain in labeled storage locations
· Must be able to meet production goals set by Shift Supervisor/Production Manager/Plant Manager for throughput, downtime, scrap, and tool changes.
· Maintains cleanliness of the area and follows good housekeeping procedures
· Train new employees in proper procedures for safety, housekeeping, quality, and production
· Position requires a self-motivated individual who can multi-task in a fast-paced production setting
· Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of quality and safety
This position is in our Plastics plant in beautiful Waynesville, NC where we produce plastic thermoformed trays.
· Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training.
· We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven
· You must be self-efficient and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
· Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
· Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
· To succeed in this role, you will need the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers.
· Ability to apply critical thinking skills and to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Data entry skills and proficient use of scan gun
· Have sufficient Mechanical Skills necessary to troubleshoot/fix machine issues
· Have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.
· Have a working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.
· Reliable, have good initiative, being committed and being quality focused is a must.
· Can lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
· Have the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
· Have the3 ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions

· Have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
· Have the flexibility to cover OT and weekend work when necessary
