PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Job Description

The Procurement Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the Production, Partner Service, Quotations, Sales and Engineering Departments. General responsibilities include evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, reviewing product quality and leading the procurement group.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement group; train, direct and coordinate team member activities
  • Work with the company executives and internal departments to develop a lean manufacturing schedule and just-in-time inventory system
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
  • Monitor inventory to ensure material availability for production needs
  • Interview vendors and visit suppliers’ plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services and prices
  • Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers
  • Negotiate and maintain contracts for compliance with terms and conditions, monitor supplier progress, ascertain the quality of service provided, determine need for changes
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all suppliers
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers and relevant internal departments; communicate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely payments to suppliers
  • Review purchase orders prior to transmission
  • Maintain records of materials ordered and received, mill certifications
  • Review purchase requisitions against monthly inventory
  • Resolve claims against suppliers
  • Confirm updated inventory costs in manufacturing software

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree required
  • 3-5 years of related purchasing agent experience
  • Proven financial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize changing assignments or multiple priorities and tasks
  • Capable of managing the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service or production issues
  • Must possess positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations
  • Have strong problem-solving and team work skills
  • Be able to identify and manage process improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications with a willingness and ability to learn new software programs
  • Flexibility and desire to take on additional responsibility
