Position Summary

As a member of the produce team, the produce stocker cleans, prepares, stocks produce and creates displays. This position also receives orders. Most duties are completed on the sales floor and require a high level of customer service, including sharing product knowledge and education through conversation, sampling, and/or printed material.

Position Summary

As a member of the Produce team, the Produce Stocker cleans, prepares and stocks produce and creates displays. This position also receives orders. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Must be of legal age to sell alcohol (18 years)
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Previous natural foods store experience, preferred
  • Previous stocking and receiving experience preferred
  • Previous experience in produce helpful but not required
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to both shoppers and staff
  • Ability to work in cold/wet conditions
  • Ability to assist the store with cashiering duties as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Stocking
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining produce displays throughout shift with bountiful, fresh produce.
  • Follow opening/closing procedures as provided.
  • Follow Produce Department designs, guidelines, and instructions for produce displays.
  • Maintain signage in appropriate places and ensure legibility and accuracy.
  • Keep all produce areas neat and clean.
  • Participate in periodic produce cleaning resets.
  • Follow special procedures for handling certified organic and non-organic produce.
  • Follow-up on items without shelf tags or prices. Leave a message for the department manager or POS person on items that need to be corrected in the POS system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Check invoices and note discrepancies before signing, dating, and entering into receiver log.
  • Inspect produce for poor quality, damaged items.
  • Ensure boxes are labeled with accurate information.
  • Efficiently put deliveries away following department receiving guidelines.
  • Mentoring
  • Ability to work alongside and mentor Owner-Workers to ensure excellent performance.
  • Complete and submit, in a timely manner, 6-month and annual evaluations for Owner-Workers working your shift
