Job description
Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Production Foreman for our facility located in Chicago, IL . Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for directing and controlling multiple production operations and will support various departments as needed. The primary function of the position is to supervise the production of quality products through optimizing the use of team members. This is a non-bargaining unit position and is on rotating shifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the workforce in a manner that promotes safety and health
- Produces high quality products through maximizing the use of all resources
- Ensures attainment of planned production goals
- Ensures all ISO quality standards and process procedures are maintained
- Control scrap generated during production
- Ensures adherence/execution of labor agreement in decision making
- Involves the work force in developing improvements
- Achieves cost improvement goals through optimizing labor productivity and expense control
- Maintains and continuously improves areas, which impact on Team Member safety
- Administers a progressive discipline program for Team Members in accordance with Company policy
- Ensures that proper training is given to all employees
- Employs a team building technique while managing the business
- Ensures that employees are aware of their performance levels through regular communications
- Quickly adapts self and team to changes brought about by modernization
- Develops back up personnel for all key positions
- Ensures inventory transactions are correctly done on time and satisfy Company objectives
- Makes sure inventory variances are properly adjusted
- Ensures all paperwork is accurate and turned in daily
- Responsible for special projects, other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-4-year degree in a related field preferred. Exceptions may be made for individuals with process knowledge and workforce management background; High School Diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility, with proven leadership skills
- Possesses good communications skills, verbal and written
- Able to apply various numerical analytical problem-solving methods
- Computer experience required
- Must exhibit enthusiasm, maintain a positive attitude and a professional image
- Must be able to interface with computers and efficient at problem solving
- Ability to pass hair follicle drug/physical/background check
- Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
- Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk or stand at least 80% of shift.\
