Production Planner/Scheduler
The Production Planner/Scheduler is a key member of the management team and is responsible for creating a Master Production Schedule of roughly 500K pounds weekly. This includes monitoring and moving raw materials accordingly to ensure that materials are available for each production run by building truckloads based on needs in order of priority for transit between our Kenosha and Antioch facilities.
Responsibilities:
· Creates and publishes a Master Production Schedule on a weekly basis for two production buildings on two production shifts.
· Create, maintain, and adjust daily production schedules for each Production area of the business, which includes all subassembly production as well as all finished production.
· Monitors Schedule Attainment and other KPIs closely to gauge the impact the production schedule has against productivity and interpreting this data to drive improvements. Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap.
· Communicates effectively with other members of management, particularly in areas of Logistics, Procurement, Shipping & Receiving and Customer Service to coordinate efforts to meet customer expectations.
· Ensures data integrity and accuracy of schedules, including the proper order based on efficiency and food safety, and that all materials are available for each production run.
· Works closely with Procurement on forecasting changes and all upcoming raw material and packaging needs.
· Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
· Makes recommendations for improving effectiveness of operations including productivity, quality, procedures, policies, standards, specifications, methods, equipment, labor/overtime, material usage, and new customer orders or products.
· Responsibilities also include the scheduling of rework or conversion projects to best utilize perishable raw materials and efficiently fill orders.
· Reconciles all order discrepancies, order changes, and the attainment of each production run and reschedules accordingly.
· Duties include effectively utilizing raw materials, monitoring inventory levels in order to prevent both shortages and excesses, and helping to coordinate customer pickups and outbound shipments.
· Meets daily with cross-functional team to resolve delayed customer shipments, component shortages, line time requirements and other challenges arising from day to day operations.
· Complies with established standard operating procedures, cGMP quality standards and regulatory procedures as well as all other company policies and procedures, while meeting company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
Qualifications:
· Four-year Degree in Business, Management or related field or equivalent Management experience preferred. Must have Food Industry experience with refrigerated/perishable goods.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience effectively building production schedules.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills, able to establish and cultivate relationships both internally and externally (Customers).
· Highly organized, highly logical and critical thinking skills adept at problem solving and identifying opportunities to streamline.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Ability to navigate Microsoft 365 and report-generating applications. AS400 and Sage X3 experience highly preferred. Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Schedule:
- Currently Monday thru Friday. Workdays and hours subject to change as required by needs of business.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
