About You
As a Professional Liability Claims Adjuster, you will investigate, evaluate, and resolve legal liability and professional liability claims made against members of the TASB Risk Management Fund. Claims adjusters at TASB have a high level of engagement in providing claims services to our members. You will be responsible for an inventory of moderately complex to highly complex third-party tort and professional liability claims in litigation.
A Typical Day
- Investigate coverage and losses, evaluate damages, set reserves, and negotiate claim settlements on moderately to highly complex third-party tort and professional liability claims in litigation against TASB Risk Management Fund members.
- Work closely with panel counsel in defense of assigned claims.
- Act as a resource for other adjusters on the team especially those with less tenure, experience, or knowledge
- Explain coverage issues and decisions to school district leadership
- Collaborate with claims leadership and assigned defense counsel on defense strategy for litigated claims.

Skills For Success
- Knowledge of insurance industry practices and litigation defense strategies relating to claims against governmental entities.
- Familiarity with employment laws and regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance industry practices and litigation defense strategies relating to claims against governmental entities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Governmental Immunity and the Texas Tort Claims Act.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency with computers, claims systems, Microsoft Office products, and the internet.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Texas Adjuster’s License applicable to primary area of responsibility required.
- Minimum three years’ experience working in an insurance or risk management preferred. Similar professional work history may be considered.
