The Department of Media and Visual Arts seeks a full-time faculty member within the discipline of Media and/or Communication starting in Fall 2023. We desire a colleague who
adds to our department in the following way: our preferable candidate must be able to teach curricula related to multi-platform journalism and writing and broadcast performance. In
addition to these areas of specialization, we seek a colleague who can teach the introductory communication course in West Liberty University's general education program.
In addition, the successful applicant will serve as the director of our student news organization, The Trumpet. Therefore, a successful candidate must also be able to interface
with student organizations. Professional experience in broadcasting and multi-platform news media is strongly desired. Faculty typically teach a 4/4 course load. Expectations for
service and professional activity are negotiated. Finally, candidates should have excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills.
Minimum requirements (Instructor-Level Hire):
- Master’s degree in communication, journalism, or related field
- Experience teaching at the college level
- Demonstrated ability to work with content management systems and publication
Requirements for Assistant Professor and Consideration for Tenure-Track:
- Ph.D. or ABD in communication, journalism, or related field
- Experience advising undergraduate students
- Experience directing student news organization
- Professional experience in multi-platform journalism
