The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator for Student Leadership, Identity, and Inclusion.

The Program Coordinator for Student Leadership, Identity, and Inclusion promotes the GRC mission by spearheading educational initiatives particularly as they relate to student leadership, identity, intersectionality, and inclusion programming. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director for LGBTQ Student Initiatives and Administration, and works closely with the entire staff of the GRC in developing and supporting an environment at Notre Dame that fosters safe and healthy relationships while promoting the moral formation of undergraduate and graduate students consistent with the University's Catholic identity, mission, and values. The Coordinator provides mentorship to student leaders who help design and implement programs on campus, and is responsible for development and execution of programming on behalf of the GRC through collaboration with other departments within Student Affairs, academic departments, and other university units. In the fall of 2023, the GRC will become a part of the new Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, housed on the renovated second floor of the LaFortune Student Center.

Programming - Develop, coordinate, and execute a significant portion of the student educational and social programming on behalf of the GRC, particularly in the areas of LGBTQ identity, intersectionality, and inclusion (including discussions, one-time awareness programs, and trainings in the areas of intersectional identity, allyship, and other areas).

Student Engagement and Development - Supervise up to two student leaders / employees and mentor one team of student leaders in the area of LGBTQ student programming. Provide professional development to student leaders as needed and empower them to help plan and execute assigned programming.

Event coverage - Assist other staff of the GRC with coverage of Prism ND events. Prism ND is the university's official LGBTQ undergraduate organization and with coverage of graduate student events as needed. Serve as a staff representative at other events sponsored by the GRC in the areas of gender equity and violence prevention as needed.

Training - Work with the Director of the GRC, the Assistant Directors, and the student employees to coordinate and implement trainings for students in the areas of LGBTQ allyship, gender equity, and intersectional identities. Develop new and targeted educational programs and/or simulation exercises to raise awareness around issues related to the GRC's mission.

Student Affairs Collaboration - Regularly collaborate with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs (Campus Ministry, Residential Life, etc.), student organizations & clubs, and other university units to enhance the GRC's work with leadership, identity, intersectionality, and inclusion. Serve on committees as needed and assist with office administration.

Student Development - Participate as an integral member of a large, multifaceted Student Development team interacting daily with colleagues in the Student Activities Office, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, Office of Student Enrichment, Office of Community Standards, RecSports, University Bands, Family Resource Center and student media groups.

The Program Coordinator is a full-time 12-month position with regular evening and occasional weekend programming responsibilities throughout the academic year, as well as some limited evening and weekend responsibilities throughout the summer.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree, ideally in Theology, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, Political Science, Education, or a related field. Masters degree is preferred, particularly in Theology/Ministry, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs for diverse populations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in higher education with faculty, staff, and students at all levels
  • Student supervisory experience, particularly with training and managing volunteers
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills including a willingness to create a challenging but welcoming environment for all people
  • Competence with technology (MS Office Suite, Google products, content management systems, and various social media platforms)
  • The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to formulating educational opportunities, consistent with the mission of a Catholic University founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross



Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience, ideally within Catholic higher education or a non-profit agency
