Role: LAUNCH@NOCC Program Coordinator

New Orleans Career Center

The New Orleans Career Center (NOCC) prepares Orleans Parish public high school students and local adults for high-wage, high-demand careers with clear sightlines to future growth and prosperity. Our trainees explore, prepare for, and enter career pipelines – through technical training, industry-based certifications, hands-on and work-based learning. We envision a world where every public school student in New Orleans graduates from high school equipped to choose their own future and shape the future of New Orleans. New Orleans Career Center offers adults highly-focused, industry-informed rapid reskill training to enter or re-enter the workforce.

In 2022 NOCC is expanding our continuum of post high school training with the LAUNCH bridge year program for graduating high school seniors.

LAUNCH@NOCC

LAUNCH is a highly focused 5th year of high school: a “bridge year” of advanced technical training, success training and coaching, work based learning, and professional networking. LAUNCH participants develop both technical skills and soft skills while building a network of peers and professional contacts who can support and enhance their personal planning and professional journey.

LAUNCH students choose to pursue industry valued credentials and licensure in one of the following career pathways: skilled crafts, engineering and manufacturing, emergency medical services, healthcare, digital media, software development, and IT.

Graduates will leave with a strong five year plan informed by their decisions which will likely include full time employment in a technical field, 2 or 4 year college enrollment, or a combination of these opportunities.

LAUNCH Program Goal: 80% or more of LAUNCH cohort participants complete the program as indicated by the following:
