The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking a Multi-Department Program Director for our Highland Lakes branch in Burnet, TX.

The Multi-Department Program Director provides programming and leadership for the YMCA of the Highland Lakes. The Multi-Department Director will administer programming and specialty duties related to the efficient operation of Aquatics, The GEN/Teen Zone, Summer Camp, and other areas as needed by the Branch Executive Director. The Multi-Department Director will provide staff training and will perform facility services as assigned. Must model relationship-building skills in all interactions and develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and other staff. The Multi-Department Director will support the mission, purpose, and goals of the YMCA, while performing his/her job duties and responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hire, schedule, train and mentor staff
  • Ensure daily upkeep of the program areas
  • Manage department budgets, as assigned
  • Actively promote and operate programs within the guidelines (QPR and Minimum Standards) established by the Core Department group, including swim lessons, swim team, aqua fitness, and more
  • Ensure head guards, guards, swim instructors, and department staff are performing assigned job duties
  • Responsible for the creation, execution, and evaluation of department programs with assistance from Leadership staff
  • Provide leadership and hands on operation of the GEN/Teen Zone with a primary focus on Middle and High School Students

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or college degree; Management of Staff Teams, Program Development or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License and show proof of insurability. Must maintain a driving record that is satisfactory with the YMCA standards.
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (ASHI or Red Cross)
  • First Aid (ASHI or Red Cross)
  • LGI Preferred - LGI within 12 months of employment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to relate well to children, to communicate effectively, build rapport, and maintain positive relations with members staff, and Y leadership
  • Enthusiasm, high energy and exceptional human relations and motivational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions
  • Should possess effective budgetary and programmatic experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, participants, volunteers or Y employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally, in writing, or in diagram form
  • Ability to attract, maintain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership
  • Ability to be an articulate spokesperson for the Association and the YMCA movement as a whole
  • Commitment to the purpose of the YMCA of Central Texas

Pay Rate: $51,000 to $53,000/year
