COMPENSATION: $24.50 - $31.00 per hour. Placement within range dependent on relevant experience.
LOCATION: This position will be located on the Chico State campus & Chico State Enterprises with occasional travel in
Northern California.
The Engagement Specialist is responsible for supporting the member experience of the grant-funded #CaliforniansForAll
College Corps program (College Corps) managed by Chico State Enterprises on behalf of CSU, Chico. The purpose of this
initiative is to build the next generation of civic leaders by engaging college students in meaningful community service.
Through College Corps, the Associate Director will advance three primary goals: engage college students in meaningful
service opportunities that build leadership skills and civic responsibility; help students from diverse backgrounds
graduate college on time and with less debt; support the work of community-based organizations focused on key local
priorities in Climate Action. The Engagement Specialists will contribute to program planning and will assist in Specialist
program activities, including but not limited to promoting the initiative, recruiting, and communicating with students
and partner organizations, overseeing processes, training and supporting student fellows, tracking data, maintaining
records, and collaborating across the university. The Engagement Specialist works closely with the Associate Director of
Member Experience to ensure grant goals and requirements are met regarding the student experience, community
partner engagement, and campus participation. It is essential that persons in these positions understand the challenges
facing contemporary university students, especially those from historically marginalized communities, and are prepared
to support and advocate for these students. This position is dependent upon grant funds. Project funding is firm through
June 31, 2023 with anticipated extension and/or additional funding for cohort 2 for the period of July 1, 2023 to June 30,
2024.
Director and Project Director. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Design meaningful service experiences for all College Corps (CC) members.
- Implement the program application process, and guide candidates through the onboarding process.
- Lead, plan and implement training and member development experiences for CC members.
- Work with Program Coordinator(s) to identify suitable events, activities and experiences for the College Corps
- Work with other CC Campuses and Corps programs to plan or implement Climate Action related programs and
- Mentor College Corps Fellows (guiding students in their academic endeavors, providing referrals to campus and
- Implementing and assessing program offerings with direct impact on CC members in Food Security incorporating
- Works independently to trouble-shoot and prioritize various issues related to CC member needs that may require

- Coordinates and organizes program events ensuring university policies and procedures are followed.

- Applies standard office software including Word, Excel, desktop publishing, outlook, Internet, Trello and

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or
- Proficient English oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage in programmatic development and assessment.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the College Corps team.
- Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range
of skill-levels (e.g., Corps pride themselves on “getting things done” but these programs also have strong
developmental components for success in life, work, and careers).
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, projects, and training.
- Two years of experience with university/college students as an instructor, advisor, counselor, or mentor.
- Experience working with or in the field of Climate Action.
Preferred:
- Master’s preferred in Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or similar Social Science or Human Service
- Experience facilitating and leading events/programs/community service.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Organizational skills to take appropriate initiative and prioritize work under multiple competing deadlines, heavy
workload, and overlapping activities in a complex and fast paced unit, with skills to plan, identify, and
troubleshoot unforeseen issues.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software, including Microsoft Office (Outlook,

- Working knowledge of learning management systems such as America Learns, Blackboard, and e-Grants; social
the MS-Word suite, CSE’s One Solution and other business-related forms and procedures, and CSU, Chico
information management, advising, and travel management systems are all pluses.

with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.

information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a

BENEFITS:
Full-time working 30 or more hours per week:
- Benefits for employees working 30 hours or more per week include employer paid life insurance ($50,000) and
holiday; vacation accrual (initially 10 days/year); sick leave (up to 12 days/year); employer contributions to your
403(b) retirement plan (up to 8%).
Part-time working 29 or less hours per week:
- 24 hours of Sick Leave per year
