JOB TITLE: Program Manager – Pathway to HousingThe Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Program Manager Social Services for the Orlando Area Command, located in Kissimmee, FL.
Job Summary: The Pathway to Housing Manager plans, develops, monitors, and evaluates the day-to-day operations and staff providing case management, pathway of hope, Emergency Food and Shelter Program, Angel Tree, food distributions and other emergency services; participates in and approves client intake; counsels clients and reviews all client assessments and individual action plans. Coordinates the program in such a manner as to ensure maximum benefits to clients and the community. Utilizes the Center’s resources, staff, and volunteers in an appropriate manner by well-defined delegation of responsibilities in general areas and in specific assignments. Ensures program is administered within established policies and procedures including government guidelines and internal rules; builds new relationships and maintains effective working relationships with community agencies to make appropriate client referrals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and practices of social services and social work as it relates to the homeless. Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention. Proficient in Service Point social services software. Proficient in Service HMIS System software. Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community. Knowledge of family dynamics and issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Ability to monitor work of case management and emergency services staff as well as ability to train the same in the proper methods and procedures for performing work. Ability to establish productive relationships with potential employers and other relevant service providers in the community. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Ability to develop program plans and goals based on client's needs. Ability to evaluate the client's progress toward program goals. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and client records. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and community agencies. Ability to drive The Salvation Army van (transportation of client and donation pick up).
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field AND three to five years’ experience performing responsible social service case management work with at least three years in a supervisory role OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to read and comprehend legal terminology in order to determine compliance. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to think clearly and quickly in order to maintain control of client caseload. Ability to work on multiple cases effectively and efficiently as the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
