JOB TITLE:
Project Coord., Sr. - Career Coach

JOB PURPOSE:
Coordinate the development, management, growth, and sustainability of professional development education programing for College of Engineering and Physical Sciences students. Overarching goal is to obtain 85% of CEPS students will complete at least one experiential education opportunity experience (or full-time job if graduating) before/directly after (within a semester) of graduating with a BS degree from the college.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide career advising, including job search services to students through face-to-face, technology, or group appointments; to include resume and application letter reviewing, practice interviews, acceptable job application processes, and other related career/job search topics. Develop and instruct programming efforts toward succeeding in an internship, networking with colleagues, and student reflection of experiences; provide some academic advising to explain benefits of conducting experiential education programs for academic credit. Plan and execute events.

Represent the UW, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences experiential education (internship/co-op/externship) program to external partners (employers, alumni, local community, staff, parents, etc.). Develop new, and maintain existing, experiential education/internship/co-op opportunities. Occasional travel for employer visits, potential student observations, or program training. Develop and maintain informational resources to constituents. Field inquires about the program.

Raise student awareness of experiential education/internships/Research/co-ops by developing appropriate educational and promotional tools through student trips, workshops, videos, web content creation, bulletins, flyers, banners, SOAR, etc.

Develop data collection and reporting processes on student and program outcomes for future goals and objectives. Consult with faculty, staff, and employers while serving as the informational and instructional resource for those seeking information about internships.

Review incoming internship notices from employers to ensure they are legitimate and appropriate opportunities for CEPS students. Regularly organize and disseminate information to students, faculty, staff, and employers. Work with technical aspects of web-based recruiting and educational platforms: Handshake, SOAR, and other potential on-line class platforms that could be used.

Actively participate in departmental meetings, contributing to discussions and decision making in a professional manner. Support other office/departmental events and programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education, leadership, entrepreneurship, business, sciences, or closely related area

Experience:
3

years of experience working with students in a professional environment

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:

Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the

University Vehicle Use Policy

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of experience working with students in a professional environment

Proven experience representing a unit/office in a professional manner

Experience advising students on professional development related topics including but not limited to networking, resume writing, interviewing, and cover letter writing

Experience working with web-based technologies and platforms for job application processes

Experience working with human resources policies for recruiting

Experience with public relations and using outreach strategies and techniques

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, databases and related technology

Ability for occasional travel
