Summary
Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineer to join its team as a Project Leader (P2) for 30K Mechanical Systems. The Project Leader will be responsible part-level (ex. Bearings, Seals, Gears, Bearing Compartments, Pumps, etc.) ownership of Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) task planning and execution to ensure the IPT achieves overall component goals. This role will include direct interfacing opportunities with engineering management, program management, suppliers, and customers. Candidate should be customer focused as well as technically proficient and capable of communicating effectively to own the IPT and meet the demands of the NGPF engine programs. Experience in design, manufacture, development, validation, entry into service and support of field service issues is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable to CIPT for part level ownership, including communication, risk management and execution to program requirements.
Support the IPT in management and closure of key technical risks / issues.
Support the IPT through successful technical and program reviews.
Support IPT budget and schedule to program requirements.
Support IPT technical and business metrics.
Participate in Customer, SIPT, IPMT and Senior Management interaction and presentations.
Provide technical support for validation engine build and engine test activities.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Military, Logistics, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Advance degree and 6+ months of relevant experience.
U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering strongly preferred.
Aerospace or Turbofan Engine industry experience highly preferred.
Basic understanding the P&W Leadership Operating Model (LOM) or similar.
Able to effectively lead, influence and coordinate across teams in strategic projects and initiatives.
Organizational and Project-Management skills (PMP certification preferred).
Customer-focused with ability to find solutions to complex problems (vendor- and customer-facing) and meet program demands.
Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to simplify complex topics for broad audience.
Continuous Improvement experience, and/or LEAN, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training.
Willingness to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, Solumina, SAP, Teamcenter, etc.
