Project Engineer
S & J Construction is seeking applicants for a Project Engineer/Manager position. This individual will assist the existing management team to plan and execute complex construction projects in the Chicago Area. S & J Construction is one of the leaders in Bridge Building (Steel
Erection), Drilling and Overhead Sign Structures. We are small enough to care about our employees and large enough to be the #1 choice of our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist with coordination with General Contractors and/or Subcontractors
- Assisting and supporting project team with daily project coordination
- Document Control (RFI’s, Submittals, Change Orders, Procedures, etc)
- Assist with creation and implementation of Erection Procedures and work plans.
- Assist with procurement of construction materials.
- Quality Control/Quality Assurance checks and documentation
- Survey and Project Layout (crane locations, laydown areas, etc.)
- Project progress reporting
- Safety management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, preferred.
- Strong Leadership skills.
- Self-motivated, critical thinker that is comfortable working both in a team environment and individually with limited oversight.
- Motivated to push projects forward while maintaining a strong relationship with labor forces, contractors, and owners.
- Ability to take directions and assume responsibility for key aspects of projects with limited oversight.
- Effective written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact internally and with outside clients and/or customers
- Willing and eager to proactively take on various responsibilities and learn new skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands from multiple projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (required), AutoCAD & Scheduling Software (preferred)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $800,000.00 per year
