POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Manager of Operational Analytics will report to the Senior Manager of Workforce and Productivity to execute end user support and maintenance of BMC's workforce management approach. He/She will work collaboratively with the Senior Manager as well as colleagues across finance, clinical, and non-clinical functions to ensure BMC's workforce management goals are met. The Project Manager, Operational Analytics will manage the weekly action planning process, including working with department managers to ensure they're supported, collecting/consolidating action plans, and following up if action plans aren't received. In addition, He/She will be responsible for taking meeting minutes, tracking follow-ups, and meeting all other administrative needs of the workforce management processes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
  • The individual manages the agenda for and participates in meetings and committees that include discussion about strategic and operational workforce planning, productivity, benchmarking, position control, and more
  • Takes meeting minutes, tracks follow-ups, sends calendar invites, and meets all other administrative needs of the labor-management processes
  • Manages the weekly action planning process, including collecting/consolidating action plans and following up if action plans aren't received
  • Responsible for ensuring data reports from the Labor Productivity Management System and related hospital reports are shared as needed
  • Tracks progress against action plans and identifies when departments may need additional support
  • Support the annual process for setting labor productivity benchmarks for all departments, including ensuring all departments are meeting key milestones
  • Support managers with analysis and data collection as needed
  • Develops understanding of Boston Medical Center (BMC) data, including human resource and hospital billing/clinical data
  • Assists in preparation of monthly productivity reports used in hospital monthly operations reviews
  • Creates new standard reports or ad-hoc reports for finance, operations, and hospital leadership
  • Provides analytical and technical support for Senior Manager, Workforce and Productivity to help drive effective labor management
  • Assists hospital managers and directors in navigation and use of LPMS and ODB 3rd party software
  • Assists in training and development of training materials for databases and 3rd party software tools

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate's Degree/Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience.. Finance degree or healthcare degree a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years in a healthcare environment in an analyst role preferred, which involves managing discrete processes end-to-end, collaborating with clinical and non-clinical hospital stakeholders, and detailed project tracking/management
  • Experience with clinical and non-clinical operations preferred
  • Experience with data analysis preferred
  • Experience with project management and administrative tasks preferred
  • Must adhere to all of BMC's RESPECT behavioral standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Excellent detail orientation and organizational skills that lead to the effective planning and management of processes/projects
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new environments
  • Team player with enthusiasm, good judgment, and the ability to solve problems effectively
  • Requires interpersonal skills to effectively work and communicate with all levels of Management inside and outside Finance
  • Ability to interpret financial data and operating metrics
  • Proven ability to make decisions and work independently
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), web browsers
  • Experience with/exposure to Labor Productivity Management Systems a plus
