Project Procurement Specialist
The Project Procurement Specialist shall perform assignments related to the procurement of goods and services including but not limited to purchases of process equipment, components, packaging, and construction services required at Bekaert Facilities and negotiation and implementation of global/regional agreements. The role will be called on to support projects primarily in North America but may be called on to support project in European, South America, and Asia regions. The incumbent shall work within the framework of each category/project with multi-disciplinary team (maintenance, project engineering, IT, legal, finance, etc.) to deliver an optimized solution from the cost, TCO and risk standpoints to the manufacturing plants and project engineering team. The individual must have strong communication skills and project management skills with a background in manufacturing operations, procurement, or engineering.
Responsibilities
- Work proactively with the business to dimension the needs to the business/project and develop procurement plans that leverage our strategies to meet all expectations
- Negotiate, develop, manage engineering and procurement contracts for mechanical, civil, I&E disciplines as well as major process equipment for plant production
- Ability to research and identify capable vendors or contractors
- Construct, present, and promote CapEx project specific procurement strategy to foster the goal of delivering the project “on time, on budget”
- Initiate selection and approval of new vendors
- Preparation of paper or electronic RFQs
- Manage and work closely with EPC and EPCM contractors, working with their multi-disciplinary teams
- Provide support to the project team in contract administration, cost controls, change order management, etc.
- Communicate, follow-up and maintain the commercial agreements in his/her portfolio
- Collect, analyze, and assure quality and accuracy of the spend analysis and KPI’s in the portfolio
- Assist project teams in defining project scope (functional definition, value analysis)
- Proactively identify value creation opportunities for internal customers, sourcing globally
- Maintain files and communicate non-conformance issues internally and with vendors
- Develop innovative sourcing alternatives to inject competition and mitigate risk in goods and/or services
- Provide market insights to other members of the procurement team, interact functionally with site buyers as well as global technical goods / technical services strategic buyers
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business or related discipline
- 3-5 years of professional experience in procurement, engineering or project management required
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of SAP purchasing and maintenance modules
- Strong computer software knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, Google Applications, MS Project)
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
