Position Details:

Reporting to the Director Commitment Management, you will lead and coach a team of creative Proposal Specialists who support the large customer sales organization with the development of appealing responses to RFP documents, contract renewals, and unsolicited offers. Proposal responses need to translate into contractual Grainger offerings for achieving long-term customer relationships and accelerated sales growth. Responses are required to be accurate and drafted to support the defined customer strategy and within Grainger's legal and business policies, minimizing company risk and exposure. This is achieved through the training and ongoing development of team members, balancing team workload, assessing market trends to refine proposal responses to reflect changes in the business, leading projects within the team to maximize team effectiveness and productivity. Additionally, you will give operational updates to the Director of Commitment Management on team performance and make recommendations based on market insights to maintain a competitive advantage in responding to proposals.

You Will:
  • Lead a team of creative Proposal Specialists who support response to customer opportunities.
  • Oversee the ongoing talent and performance management process with focus on growth and development
  • Proactively research and make recommended improvements based on market insights to maintain a competitive advantage in responding to proposals.
  • Establish team's measurements in areas such as productivity, cycle-time, accuracy, quality, and team performance. Initiate action to address areas for improvement identified in metric results.
  • Work and partner with aligned Sales Leaders and Functional Business Teams including Legal, Marketing, Brand Strategy, Customer Life-cycle Management, Sales Operations, Sales Directors, and VP's. regarding legal or business-related issues and escalations to help determine alternate approaches that meet our needs and customer while assessing company policy.
  • Lead Proposals continuous improvement projects focused on streamlining processes, improving productivity and quality of work, minimizing re-work and redundancy across the team.
  • Work with Marketing and functional partners to manage the clause library for updates and identify enhancements required for future needs.
  • Conduct independent proposal audits to ensure quality measures are meeting specifications and to identify areas for improvement to be addressed within the proposal specialist team.
Compensation:

This position is salaried and will pay between $89,760. And $138,210. with 15 % bonus eligibility target. The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to: a candidate's experience, qualifications, geographical area, and internal equity of the team.

You Have:
  • Successful formal/informal leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent related work experience
  • 3+ years of Request for Proposal (RFP) response, creative writing, and operational related experience
  • Working knowledge of legal terms and conditions, business concepts, communication theories, and vocabulary (both internal and external to Grainger), and design layout concepts
  • Success in building effective relationships.
  • Success in managing multiple tasks, clarifying requests, resolve outstanding issues.
  • Ability to identify and address organizational barriers to ensure team members can perform their jobs.
  • Able to source information from variable inputs and summarize into meaningful formats.
  • Strong process-orientation. Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Proficient in PPT, Visio, Visme to maximize productivity.
