Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Prototype Readiness Leader at our BorgWarner facility in Kokomo, IN.
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Prototype Operations Manager, the Prototype Readiness Leader will be responsible to provide swift execution for a variety of automotive electronic prototype products. The candidate will engage with internal organizations as well as customer interaction on products being developed for prototype production. This position will lead the Prototype Operations Team in the preparation and execution of prototype builds from the design concept to fulfilling customer shipments.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and Prototype Operations to manage and lead proto builds from conception to shipment
- Define build requirements, and provide electrical and mechanical bill of materials parts list for material coordinators to order components for the proto builds
- Generate build documentation including prints, checklists, process flow diagram, and necessary details to execute proto builds
- Coordinate, support, and resolve issues throughout the build process
- Schedule and conduct build review meetings to ensure all part requirements are delivered on time to meet build and customer schedules
- Ensure Customer specific shipping requirements are executed
- Participate in material quality reviews as required
- Communicate build status to the program team members throughout the build process
What we’re looking for
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline and/or equivalent
- 0-3 years’ experience in project management and/or equivalent; however, preference will be given to candidates with 5+ years of experience
- 0-3 years’ experience with automotive electronic products including power electronics and engine control modules preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels of BorgWarner
- Recognized functional knowledge with the ability to train others
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, circuit board schematics, and technical specifications
- Ability to shift between tasks quickly and efficiently
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Energetic, self-motivated, proactive, and customer focused working style
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when necessary
