About us

Jacob is an 18 year old young man with severe autism. He is very active and at times can show aggression in the form of light smacking. We have pads and different techniques to prevent anybody getting hurt. He is smart and requires constant supervision. He uses simple one word demands to communicate. He is part of a loving family that will be there to assist and train.

We are looking for a Psychiatric Technician or person with experience working with young adults under the Autism spectrum. The candidate will have a set part-time schedule on the weekends and possibly one evening during the week. The candidate will be on call for regular and urgent patient needs, and is required to have a passion for psychiatry as well as home health care.

The ideal candidate should be in very good physical shape and have the strength to handle and keep up with a 160 lbs young man. Please be able to hike, run and swim. We prefer hands-on experience with psychiatric/autism patients of all ages, or a willingness to learn how to handle our young man with severe autism. We will train and provide all the necessary support.

Responsibilities:

• Assist our 18 year old young man with severe autism with routine self-care activities, such as dressing, toileting and feeding.
• Provide one-on-one care that focuses on improving behavior with a consistent plan of action and activities like hiking, running and swimming.
• Observe and guide our young man in order to keep him safe and healthy throughout the day.
• Ability to keep up with our young man that will keep you on your toes.
• Assist during evenings to get him ready for bed, give medication, etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
