Public Outreach and Communications Specialist I

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices located across the country and Canada.

We seek a Public Outreach and Communications Specialist I for our Environmental Services Group to join our 320 + person environmental team. This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with an excellent benefits package. This position can be based out of Boise, ID office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement public outreach and communications aspects of projects
  • Coordinate meetings with agencies and other stakeholders for information gathering and dissemination
  • Attend and participate in public open house meetings
  • Develop project presentation materials such as mailers, newsletters, and FAQs
  • Schedule and facilitate communications meetings for project team members, including web-based video meetings
  • Coordinate with internal and external project teams
  • Work across all of POWER’s business lines to assist with engineering, planning, and design efforts
  • Assist in innovation for new technologies and processes for public involvement services
  • Coordinate administrative and professional staff on tasks, schedule, and budget
  • Maintain quality control for all deliverables
  • Travel 15-20% of the time; overnight stays will be required for evening meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Zero to three (0-3) years of experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in participating in web-based meeting platforms including but not limited to Zoom, Cisco WebEx, MS Teams
