WANTED PUBLIC WORKS CREW MEMBER TOWN OF PLUM LAKE, VILAS COUNTY

We are accepting applications for a Full Time Crew Member. This position is under the monitored supervision of the Town Board. Must be a US citizen and Wisconsin resident with a valid CDL license, high school diploma or equivalent, good physical condition, good verbal and written skills: no felony convictions.

This position is 40 hrs/week with occasional overtime during emergencies, storms, snowfall, and other tasks as scheduled. This position will consist of Town road maintenance, tree limbing and removal, snow removal, operation of heavy equipment, brush dump maintenance, Town Shop upkeep, assisting Building/Grounds personnel when necessary. Possess the ability to recognize what needs to be done and work independently.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Full Time Public Works Crew Member — Roads and Shop Facility

This position is directly responsible to and reports to Town Board Supervisor #1 of the Town of Plum

Lake

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Maintain all Town roadways throughout the year including but not limited to:

  • Snow removal
  • Debris removal
  • Brushing
  • Patching
  • Shoulder erosion
  • Sanding
  • Signage
  • Posting hazardous areas before repairs are made
  • Maintaining all town equipment (ie oil changes, grease jobs, etc) that don't require outside professional services
  • Maintain a written legible inventory of all Shop tools, equipment, and supplies categorizing where they are located
  • Maintain a legible daily logbook of services you performed and repairs made
  • Purchases over $100.00 require prior approval by your immediate Supervisor. Write their name on the invoice before submitting to the Town Clerk for payment. Also include a description of the purchase if not obvious on the invoice
  • To work independently in a non-supervised position displaying self-initiative
  • Attend major community functions when requested
  • Assist other crew members in performing job duties when requested
  • Notify the Town Board (in writing) of any impending situations that you foresee regarding major repairs or maintenance or purchases that may impact the Town's budget or liability
  • A 15 minute am and 15 minute pm break is permitted along with a 30 minute unpaid lunch
  • Maintain an accurate timecard
  • Report any incident or accident and complete form
  • Use of cell phone or other electronic devices is prohibited during operation of any equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
