We are seeking a skilled Purchaser with a background in the manufacturing industry to join a growing company that specializes in the stamping and fabrication of metal parts for major industries such as automotive, tool storage, electronic and aircraft in Itasca, IL. Full-Time Permanent
8am - 5pm (On-site daily required)

Responsibilities:

• This person will need to bring in new vendors, setup meetings, and negotiate products and pricing with them.
• Examples of vendors may include steel providers, equipment, widgets, cardboard, and pallet vendors.
• Provide the quality assessment of products.
• This person will work closely with the Jr. Buyer.
• Work with the plant manager on testing for the product quality and determining the specific material they need for the manufacturing lines.
• This person would be doing the purchasing/procurement for just the Itasca location.
• Discuss shared vendors with west coast office and work with west coast office to broker vendor price breaks. (i.e. purchase higher volumes to reduce cost).
• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing material usage, ordering efficiency, and maintain even inventory levels.
• Monitor and report inventory levels, stock obsolescence, and inventory variances.
• Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure that they fulfill all customer requests.
• Maintain vendor database and document vendor information.
• Monitor supplier performance and negotiate supplier contracts.
• Provide trend analysis, problem resolution, and change management.
• Provide purchasing support through internal and external communication.
• Generate purchase orders.
• Perform other purchasing related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 3 + years of Purchaser experience
• Manufacturing industry experience required.
• Fabrication, roll-forming, stamping, welding and steel distribution experience is a preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of procurement and inventory terminology and processes, and the ability to negotiate pricing and terms
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
