Gibson Plumbing Company, one of the largest growing new construction plumbing company is searching for a Purchasing Agent to be a part of our plumbing construction family in our San Antonio location. A candidate that is passionate about growing and having pride in their work.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process purchase orders by verifying specifications and price. This includes plumbing materials, rental equipment, fill/bedding material, and miscellaneous items.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency to ensure material is delivered within the time frame required by scheduling department, Superintendents, and/or customer.
  • Manage backorders and expedite material as needed to satisfy the production schedule.
  • Maintain system information related to MRP system such as lead times, open orders, primary supplier, pricing, safety stock, etc.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to understand and stay abreast of industry changes that might impact key critical programs relative to pricing, risk and innovations.
  • Input material requisition orders with forecasted delivery dates to create demand for multi-family jobs.
  • Conduct total cost modeling and cost benefit analysis for new products and lines, as necessary.
  • Measure and track procurement metrics for reporting to management.
  • Assist in approved cost reduction projects from initiation to implementation by communicating with all dependent parties both internally and externally.
  • Review and audit supplier order confirmations for accuracy and react quickly to issues between the invoice, receipt, and purchase order.
  • Create and manage product/project submittals, as necessary. Follow-up to ensure submittal approval.
  • Maintain SAGE 100 part numbers, descriptions, and product categories.
  • Assist in yearly physical inventory.
  • Assist with major pricing uploads (by manufacturer, distributor)

Physical Demands
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Licenses
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License must be obtained within 60 days of employment; must pass driving record check annually.
Performance Goals
  • Move to ordering recurring stock two or three times a week.
  • Follow-up on purchase orders and know material ETA. Maintain vendor backorder report.
  • Maintain pricing uploads. Be familiar with and maintain a file of current quoted pricing.
  • Investigate and analyze new products (financial impact and quality).
  • Walk pre-pulled packages daily to remedy any anticipated backorders proactively.
