Summary of Role:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for addressing all customer concerns related to quality, both internally and externally. Similarly, they will work to respond to supplier defect occurrences. The Quality Engineer works closely with the customer and the members of their quality team to ensure our solutions meet their needs and requirements.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Frame the escalated case and manage it to resolution
- Analyze organization dependencies, procedures and training/competence for adequacy
- Analyze KPIs and other key Characteristics including Measurement System Analysis, Process Capabilities, Run-Charts and other discrete and non-discrete data
- Analyze and assess process flows, and develop new process flow maps where required
- Support, or where requested perform, Failure Analysis and Root Cause analysis
- Support the development, implementation and sustainable realization of corrective actions and Poke-Yokes and Fail-Safe solutions
- Assure verification of Corrective Activities
- Interact with all relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Establish Mistake proofing or Poke-Yoke guidelines for process certification
- Develop Capability controls for process certification
- Establish training requirements for processes and establish control plans
- Establish metrics management criteria for processes and create audit guidelines
- Establish Preventive Maintenance criteria for both machines and processes
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
- Minimum 3 years quality experience
- Quality management system lead auditor or internal auditor certification (ex. ISO9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, AS9100D) preferred
- Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing and/or lean systems environment a plus.
- Experience in sealing applications, rubber, and/or plastics production preferred
- Knowledge of statistics and/or green or black belt in six sigma preferred
- Working knowledge of root cause analysis including related methodologies such as: Ishikawa, 5 Why, 8D, PDCA Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin, and Cause-Effect Diagrams
