Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Specialist functions as a vital part of the QA Department in maintaining ATS’ accreditations, certifications, and approval on customers’ approved supplier lists. The Quality Assurance Specialist demonstrates objectivity, critical thinking, good business acumen, strong communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills while representing ATS and the QA Department to internal and external customers.

1. Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Specialist’s responsibilities include:

  • Conduct pre-audit visits to NDT locations (40% - 60% travel) ensuring the Quality Assurance Program is being adhered to
  • Assist in maintaining existing NDT accreditations and certifications for ISO 9001, ISO 17025, AS9100, Nadcap, and the 10CFR50 Appendix B Program as applicable
  • Development of continuous improvement projects to assist NDT operations in more efficient quality processes
  • Qualify as an NQA-1 Lead Auditor
  • Ensure a high level of NDT internal and external customer service
  • Report to the QA Director on internal and external audits of NDT processes, systems, projects and/or locations based on a directed or a for-cause basis within established timelines
  • Assist in overseeing and hosting NDT QA inspections and audits by clients and agencies and in responding to any subsequent issues
  • Interact with vendors (conduct source audits as needed) to ensure quality of purchased materials and services
  • Develop plans to address and correct nonconforming issues
  • Ensure NDT customer issues and complaints relating to quality are investigated and corrected
  • Follow-up on NDT audit findings to ensure that appropriate actions have been taken and have adequately resolved the issues identified
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of current applicable quality practices, NDT methods, quality guidelines, and related auditing techniques appropriate to NDT services
  • Conduct internal audits of non-NDT related processes and departments as directed

2. Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or two-year degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or a minimum of three years’ experience in Quality Systems administration
  • Ability to travel 40% - 60%
  • Familiarity with NDT methodologies
  • Knowledge of MS Office and SharePoint
  • Basic knowledge of applicable quality assurance processes and procedures (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, AS9100, Nadcap, CP-189, ASNT-TC-1A, 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, ISO 9712, ISO 17020, 10CFR21)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients, and auditors
  • Hands-on, team-oriented philosophy with commitment to business improvement processes
  • NQA-1 Lead Auditor or ability to achieve NQA-1 Lead Auditor credential
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor preferred but not required.

3. Training

Training shall be provided by management as identified upon employment.
