POSITION TITLE: QUALITY CONTROL, MECHANICAL INSPECTOR LVL I
POSITION SUMMARY:
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process, compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Interprets complex engineering drawings, confers with management and engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Selects products for inspection validation at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities, such as dimensions, diameters, profiles, true position, cosmetic appearance, obvious defects.
Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, Outside Processes, APQP, Industry Specifications.
Deploy continuous improvement activities and drive error-proofing for all processes.
Work in and around CNC Lathes, CNC Mill’s, Grinders, and general Tool Room equipment.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience: Between 2 and 4 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, or apprenticeship. Able to read complex blueprints and perform 1st articles, using CNC CMM’s, dial calipers, OD micrometer’s, optical comparators, and numerous other precision inspection tools. CMM programming experience using CMM Manager software. Familiar with Honeywell, SpaceX and MD products, special processes, and quality requirements. Able to complete AS9102’s with little to no assistance.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to:
- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
- exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently
Visual Acuity: Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
Working Conditions: Normally works in an office environment. Occasionally, the employee is subject to:
- high noise levels from operating machines
- physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
- breathing fumes, dust and mist
- skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid
The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
