Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead, will be responsible for designing and developing sophisticated testing software; developing automated test suites and conducting hands-on testing of the MATLAB Editor, Current Folder Browser, AddOns, and other desktop components; working with both Java desktop applications and JavaScript-based web applications; engaging early in the software development process, influencing requirements specifications, attending usability sessions, and discussing software design and testability with the development team, to ensure delivery of high quality software to MathWorks customers; designing and developing test plans based upon functional and design specifications; participating in functional reviews, test specification, documentation, and code reviews; creating and maintaining automated and manual test suites with a heavy emphasis on GUI test automation; designing and developing test tools to support UI test automation for MATLAB design environment components; participating actively in functional, system and regression testing activities; analyzing and reporting bugs and working to resolve them; and fostering a continuous process improvement environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and no experience.

Special Requirements:

• Demonstrated expertise designing automated test tools and automated tests for web applications, web services and APIs using Java within JUnit and TestNG frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise applying object-oriented programming concepts in design and development of web applications and automated tests using Java and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated expertise writing SQL queries across MySQL and Oracle databases to update, retrieve, and integrate data with client-servers using RESTful web services and Spring framework.
• Demonstrated expertise performing web application and automated test development according to Test Driven Development processes in accordance with Agile methodologies, including performing continuous integration using Jenkins, GitHub, SVN, or Perforce.
