1. Capable of completing/training all Quality Technician 2 essential functions.
2. Capable of performing advanced testing/inspection (Visual Test, macro etch, and magnetic particle) as necessary.
3. Capable of creating/updating inspection software (PolyWorks) programs for other inspectors as needed.
4. Capable of training other inspectors on creating inspection software (PolyWorks) programs.
5. Initiates process changes, rework orders and customer deviation/waiver requests when appropriate.
6. Participates in material review board meetings if required.
7. Mentors and trains, Level I and II Quality Technicians.
8. Is a resource for QA Lead, can perform some lead functions as needed.
9. Is a resource for QA Leadership – Suggests process/equipment/training improvements as needed.
10. Acquires testing certifications as necessary.
11. Is a resource for all BTD facilities and BTD customers in regards to knowledge of parts, prints, customer specs, inspection methods, production processes, and any other information affecting the production of quality products.
12. Adheres to Company values, Quality Policy and Department work standards.
13. Complies with BTD’s Quality System and processes.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent and three years of technical training or three years of manufacturing or quality experience.
Experience and Skills Required: At least three years of recent BTD manufacturing production/quality experience, or three years of quality experience in similar organizations with similar processes, which includes the following skills and abilities:
1. Considerable knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in manufacturing operations.
2. Considerable knowledge of ISO 9001 quality assurance systems.
3. The ability to effectively communicate and enforce company standards.
4. Considerable knowledge of improvement methodologies (6 Sigma, PDCA, root cause analysis).
5. Considerable knowledge of inspection equipment used in a manufacturing environment.
6. Working knowledge of statistics, SPC and process capability.
7. Working knowledge of machining, welding and fabrication tooling and fixtures.
8. Working knowledge of modeling software.
9. Working knowledge of load, destructive and non-destructive testing.
10. Considerable knowledge of gage preservation, calibration, traceability and correlation.
11. Working knowledge of GR&R.
12. Working knowledge of product traceability.
13. Considerable knowledge of computer-aided inspection equipment.
14. Considerable knowledge of WINDOWS, MSOFFICE and E-mail.
15. The skill to identify problems and collectively use available resources to solve them.
16. Considerable knowledge of corrective and preventive actions.
17. The ability to understand, follow and issue routine and complex oral and written instructions.
18. The ability to work effectively, either independently or in a team environment.
19. The ability to perform basic and complex math and trigonometry functions.
20. The ability to accurately read, understand and interpret blueprints (including GD&T) and specifications.
21. The ability to establish, encourage and maintain effective working relationships with others.
22. An understanding of the importance of a safe work environment.
23. The ability to train and coordinate the activities of Level I and II Quality Technicians.
