R&D Scientist III

Job Responsibilities

• Able to train researchers on how to properly use chemical equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on complex laboratory equipment in accordance with OEM requirements and specifications, industry and/or government standards.
• Develop and document maintenance and calibration procedures.
• Ensures that chemical equipment being used in research projects is available.
• Provides accurate results to support research and development activities in support of America’s Space program.
• Schedule maintenance as identified by the maintenance management system reports in and around scheduled laboratory operations.
• Document maintenance activity through completion of maintenance work orders.
• Initiate, disposition, and resolve anomalies and issues on systems, equipment, and assets.
• Ensure safety while performing maintenance activities to protect personnel performing the maintenance activity, facility and laboratory occupants, and the equipment.
• Ensure that OEM maintenance agreements are generated, tracked, and fulfilled for specified laboratory equipment.
• Provide support for Lab Safety Plans and reporting.
• Provide support for environmental management and general housekeeping.
• Performs other position related duties and responsibilities as directed.

Education or Equivalent

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, economics, geology, physics, mathematic or related scientific field.
• Five years of job-related experience.
• Expert in the use, operation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.
• May be required to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
