This company is part of a global conglomerate and one of the leading manufacturers of pet food in Europe. The US plant produces private label wet dog and cat foods supplying retail grocery, drugstores, and specialty retailers.

Responsibilities:

Develop strategies to improve existing products and processing. Participate in the formulation and development of new products and focus on supply chain issues. Work on projects for qualification of raw materials, product and ingredient testing, databases, analytical data and other cross-functional projects.

Work closely with production, evaluating and improving critical factors in the process of wet food products. Re-engineer and optimize existing products. Ensure that product aesthetics and other physical attributes are consistent with the customer’s expectations.

Ensure that technology transfer into procurement, manufacturing, quality, engineering, and warehousing are well communicated before product commissioning. Evaluate new ingredients through processing in the lab and in the plant. Conduct internal thermal validations.

Participate in the design and execution of trials to improve existing or new products. Provide support on critical issues, product performance investigations and in the investigation of non-conformance material.

Qualifications:

BS in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Meat Science or a related field.

2+ years’ experience in the pet food and/or meat processing industry, with an understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

Strong knowledge of raw materials and ingredients functionality.

Ability to evaluate research data and draw reasonable conclusions and initiate next steps.

Proficient in MS Office applications and has experience in Concept 5, Best Mix, or other formulation software.
