Summary

Performs diagnostic x-rays as scheduled by physicians.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explains procedures to patients and answers questions.
  • Prepares equipment for use as needed.
  • Prepares examination rooms for patient exams.
  • Positions patients for imaging exams.
  • Monitors patients during exams.
  • Follow procedures that prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation to themselves, as well as to the patient.
  • Documents information in the electronic health record and any other necessary software systems.
  • Processes routine paperwork and files reports as requested.
  • Reports important information to the physician.
  • Ensures safety of patients during exams.
  • Produces diagnostic images of soft tissues.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Attends required staff and educational meetings.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Follows organizational policies and procedures, including State of Franklin Healthcare Associates Compliance Manual, Code of Ethics and Business Standards, HR Policies and Procedures Manual, Team Member Handbook, OSHA Manual and any other policies or procedures for the job function, department, location or clinic.

Education

Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a medical office environment involving contact with patients, physicians, staff, insurance carriers and other business partners. Occasional local travel between work sites and additional hours, including evening or weekend work, may be necessary. Requires the ability to handle physically stressful tasks and interact positively. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
