CONCRETE / READY-MIX TRUCK DRIVER, Class B CDL required w/ Manual transmission


Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix specializes in aggregate and concrete needs. We are looking to hire 1-2 Ready-Mix truck drivers as we enter our peak season. These positions are permanent, full-time employment. Cowden is looking for professional commercial truck drivers with at least a Class B CDL who are legally able to operate manual transmission trucks. We are willing to train new CDL holders and also those without concrete experience. Candidates who have experience operating mixer trucks and have experience with concrete are ideal candidates. If you enjoy some manual labor, driving truck, interacting with customers and co-workers regularly, working outside, earning prevailing wages...this is the job for you!!!

While each truck requires different demands, we expect all our drivers to be physically capable of lifting 45 lbs., climbing fixed-ladders, performing vehicle inspections, and handling adverse weather conditions.

READY-MIX DRIVER JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW

  • Inspect and transport freshly mixed concrete from batch plant to job site
  • Responsible for normal operating adjustments to the equipment and batch being hauled
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain appearance, clean/wash vehicle inside and out
  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift extension chutes, stretch, sit, shift gears
  • Available for flexible work schedule according to customer needs, Mon-Sat
  • Communicate with dispatch and work cooperatively with team
  • Attend safety and team meetings
  • Adjust axle pressure settings for proper load distribution
  • Inspect and adjust slump according to ticket and admixtures
  • Drive in compliance with traffic laws and determine correct, expeditious route to job sites
  • Evaluate job site for safety
  • Process required paperwork
  • Provide excellent customer service

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Safe driving record
  • Current, valid CDL class A or B (all mixer trucks are manual transmission)
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Experience (preferred)
  • Negative pre-employment drug screen (required)
  • Eligibility to work in the US
  • Must pass a drive test with our Safety Manager
  • Must be able to pass a physical fitness test
  • Criminal background checks are conducted


WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive wages based on experience and qualifications. Base Hourly Rate Range: $25-$32 per hour PLUS benefits
  • Overtime Pay after 40 hours/week
  • Full time (40-60 hrs/wk), Mon-Fri, some Saturdays Spring - Fall
