Cascade Park Gardens, Tacoma's premier affordable Memory Care community, is seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health/Recreation Technician to contribute significantly to the FUN our amazing residents require. The individual selected will need to be FUN, CREATIVE, reliable, customer service-minded, and take pride in making our residents smile through the delivery of quality programming in our building. A desire to engage with geropsychiatric residents is necessary to be successful in this position.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Plan, organize, and direct individual and group activities to meet the social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of each resident.
  • Conduct programs to improve patient mental and physical well-being, instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques designed to meet their specific needs.
  • Communicate available programs to the residents and encourage participation.
  • Routinely evaluate, assess, develop, and fulfill your departmental program functions as required to carry out the continuing mission of the organization within its guiding principles and core values.
  • Be willing to help on the floor with resident care needs as needed.
    • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the job.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and hold a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be willing to acquire or have HCA/CNA certification from the State of Washington
  • Must have knowledge of nursing care practices, especially in the context of geriatric care; state Boarding Home regulations pertaining to resident care
  • Must have at least two (2) years’ experience working in a social or recreation program, preferably in a boarding home or long-term care setting, conducting both individual and group activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, team-player, caring and able to foster atmosphere of dignity and respect
  • Clean background check
  • Requires a positive attitude and high energy level
  • Requires strong communication skills
  • Be detail-oriented
