Description

The person selected will work under the direction of the Dr. TK Gregg Community Center Director. They will assist recreation staff with program preparation as well as coordination of activities and recreation programs at parks and recreation facilities. May be put in charge of the facility in the evenings and on weekends.

Examples of Duties

Plans and organizes daily work routine.
May be put in charge of the recreation facilities in the mornings, evenings and on weekends.
Provides a positive environment for customers and coworkers through the use of customer service skills.
Assists with front desk administrative duties to include registering customers, monetary transactions, and scheduling rentals; attends departmental and city-wide meetings and training.
Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time-management methodology.
Estimates expected time of completion of elements of work and establishes a personal schedule accordingly.
Attends meetings, planning sessions and discussions on time.
Implements work activity in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules. Maintains a calendar for meetings, deadlines and events.
Follows established policies and procedures.
Represents City of Spartanburg at community functions.
Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

An Associate's degree in leisure services or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. 1-3 years of related work experience.

Knowledge of organizing people and activities, the ability to assume responsibility in doing work and meeting deadlines. Work cooperatively, professionally and courteously with the public and the recreation staff. Maintain an enthusiastic positive attitude.

Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours.
