CAMP DATES AND HOURS:
CARD Summer Camps June 5-August 18th
Be part of a child's summer camp experience! Inclusion aides allow children to attend summer camp with the extra support they need to have a fun and successful camp experience. Some positions will be 1:1 and others will provide extra support to campers at various camps.
This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position with varying shifts that may include working 0-40 hours per week as assigned, and less than 1,000 hours per fiscal year. Shifts are Monday-Friday and range from five to eight hours per day. Camp hours are 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Candidates who successfully progress through the interview process will receive a job offer contingent on the passing of a live scan background check
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with disabilities, excellent customer service skills, be well organized, professional, and reliable. Applicants must be able to work during the specified program hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have an interest in working with children with disabilities. Ideally has experience working with children with disabilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate and actively engage with program participants.
- Ability to create, coordinate, and facilitate program and age appropriate activities.
- Possess the ability to work in-group settings
- Depending on the assignment, must be able to swim at a level considered water safe and be comfortable participating in pool activities
- Depending upon program assignment, knowledge of a specific subject matter or ability to gain and effectively share knowledge, or experience or exposure in child development, recreation leadership, or individual sports.
- Depending upon program assignment, ability and willingness to handle and display living animals, including snakes, other reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds.
- Depending upon program assignment, the ability and willingness to work in and around creek water.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, evaluate, support, and guide program participants.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary for acceptable job performance.
- Ability to follow CARD regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to deal effectively with conflict and resolution.
- Ability to provide quality customer service, develop favorable public relations, and maintain an appearance that projects a positive image.
- Ability to think clearly, quickly, and accurately in emergencies.
- Ability to work the hours the program requires.
- Depending on assignment, must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Ability to utilize CARD technology and software for daily operational effectiveness.
- Ability to be in compliance with and meet background check requirements.
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable on the District’s vehicle liability policy (if required to drive a vehicle).
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Depending upon program assignment, frequent sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time; occasional running, bending, twisting, kneeling or squatting.
- Depending upon program assignment, occasional hiking over uneven terrain.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent grasping, holding, and reaching, including reaching over head or shoulder.
- Constant use of overall vision.
- Frequent hearing and talking in person; occasionally by phone.
- Frequent participant, public, and co-worker contact; occasional working alone.
- Occasional exposure to loud noises and large groups of people.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Conditions will vary depending on assignment. Work may be performed indoors in a typical temperature-controlled office environment or outdoors subject to year-round weather conditions. Duties may include some recreation-related field noise or street noise. Travel in between sites in a ten-mile radius may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide direct support to an individual with a disability or diagnosis registered for summer camps/activities listed in the CARD Play guide.
- Utilize support techniques provided by the Inclusion Coordinator, Senior Recreation Supervisor, Recreation Coordinator, Camp Directors and/or parents.
- Learn, understand, and follow any program instructions or guidelines including behavior management systems and procedures for addressing safety.
- Actively engage with program participants; provide guidance and support; and adhere to established adult/child ratios where applicable.
- Provide quality customer service which includes positive and effective communication and interaction with program participants, parents, co-workers, program partners, and the public, and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Maintain and submit reports and records as required.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and assigned programs as required.
- Ensure materials and supplies are used properly.
- May be required to drive a vehicle to fulfill job duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
