Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an experienced Recruiter for our Personnel Department. We are a self-perform heavy civil contractor working in North Carolina. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible after 90 days for benefits such as health, dental and vision insurance and paid time off. This position is 100% on site. It is not remote or hybrid.

Job Duties:

  • Recruiting for prospective employees using various resources (internet, referrals, agencies, in-person events, career fairs, networking events, etc.)
  • Find and register the company for various hiring events across the state of NC and attend those events
  • Interview & hire prospective employees for various positions (hourly & salary)
  • Set up interviews for prospective employees (field & office candidates)
  • Make verbal and written offers for employment to candidates
  • Assist the Personnel Department with correspondence, travel arrangements, records, files, appointments and invoices to accomplish efficient and quality communications. Must be consistent and uphold a high level of confidentiality
  • Coordinating and completing various office services such as mailings, copying, etc. for work areas. Must be efficient in organization of office and field operation paperwork, preparation of office forms and other supplies for both field and office personnel
  • Must report regularly to Recruiting & Hiring Manager on progress and/or problems; seeking assistance and counsel as required
  • Perform background checks of all prospective employees
  • Give new employees proper orientation and detailed information about their positions
  • Assist new employees with appropriate paperwork and forms
  • Maintain and utilize computer database consisting of employee information
  • Assist the Personnel Department with organizing, setting up and facilitating company events as needed
  • Assist the Personnel Department with administrative and clerical support as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be able to use calculators, computers, machines (copy, fax, etc.) and other typical office equipment. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe is required
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred. Proficient knowledge of English and Spanish (read, write, speak)
  • One year minimum prior experience in heavy civil construction recruiting required.
  • Must be highly organized, consistent and punctual
  • Must be able to muti-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously while keeping details accurate & following company processes/policies
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 20lbs.
