As the Regional Vice President of our Hospital Innovation Group (IdeaPark), you will be responsible for leading ~40 animal hospitals across Southern California, Northern California, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, and Georgia. You will directly manage a portfolio of 8-10 hospitals and lead a team of three Regional Operations Directors responsible for ~30 hospitals. You will direct the implementation of incremental and step change innovations that can be piloted, proven, and scaled across IdeaPark with the goal to graduate successful programs to the broader VCA Hospital network. As a result, you will have a BIG role in shaping the future of pet healthcare at VCA Animal Hospitals and the veterinary industry overall.

You will actively work with hospital teams to implement new processes, tools and techniques that will reimagine operational workflows and client experiences. To accomplish this, you will need to motivate hospital leaders and field leaders to step out of their comfort zone by clearly communicating why we’re making changings, rolling up your sleeves and showing a commitment and passion to getting things done.

This is a highly visible role that requires regular travel and highly effective and engaging communication and presentation skills. This position will require strong strategic planning, people management, change management and analytical skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Build a better pet healthcare experience that balances the interests of our Associates, clients/pets and business performance

  • Manage the P&L for the Hospital Innovation Group, which includes ~40 hospitals

  • Directly manage a portfolio of 8-10 hospitals

  • Manage 3 Regional Operations Directors

  • Partner with Regional Medical Directors and Regional Technician Directors to deliver world-class medicine and operational excellence

  • Participate in strategic planning to identify new opportunities for operational and client experience improvements

  • Partner with Client Experience, Digital Innovation, Marketing, Legal, Finance, P&O, etc. teams to effectively develop, test and implement new programs

  • Direct hospital implementation of new processes, tools and techniques

  • Run multiple and concurrent pilots across hospital cohorts and innovation regions

  • Develop new hospital training materials and programs and conduct in-person/virtual training sessions

  • Create new client-patient centered hospital designs and coordinate remodel construction projects

  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative methods to measure success

  • Present and share successes and failures at leadership meetings

  • Create operational guides to scale proven programs and changes across IdeaPark and the broader VCA Hospital network

Qualifications

  • Friendly, outgoing and persuasive personality

  • Strong desire to learn new things and open to new/different ways of doing things

  • Proven leader that can inspire and motivate associates to step out of their comfort zone

  • Bachelor’s degree, with 10+ years in a hospital operations management in the veterinary, healthcare or related industry

  • Demonstrated experience driving change management

  • Proven ability to identify gaps with existing processes and recommend improvements

  • Experience with analytical approaches and quantitative methods as well as using client insights and competitive research to identify and validate key opportunities

  • Action oriented, independent, self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing priorities simultaneously with minimum guidance and high attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills

  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills including creating presentation slides and materials

  • Proven ability to take complex data/information and communicate it in a clear and engaging format (via reports, presentations, etc.)

  • Strong communication, problem solving and project management skills

  • Deep understanding of hospital operations and pet parent challenges in a medical environment a big plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of time across the U.S.


Position Location

This position can work remotely, but but the ideal candidate would base on the West Coast.

Additional Information

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000-$190,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
