W estern Slope Healthcare is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and competent Nurse Supervisor to join our team.

Purpose: To assess resident care and manages facility employees in the provision of care and services according to professional standards of nursing practice, consistent with facility philosophy of care and county, state and federal laws and regulations, as applicable, under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the development and implements policy and procedures consistent with current law.
  • Assist in the planning, organization, develompment, implementation and interpretation of the programs, goals, objectives, and policies and procedures, etc, which is necessary for providing quality care.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing personnel.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the nursing procedures manual is current at all times and reflects day to day nursing care procedures performed in this facility.
  • Key information into computer systems, including EMR
  • Participate in facility surveys by authorized government agencies as may be requested.
  • Ensure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their respective job descriptions.
  • Meet with nursing staff as well as support personnel in planning the department services programs and activities.
  • Ensure that a sufficient number of nursing personnel are available to meet the daily needs of each resident.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments with acceptable nursing standards.
  • Perform administrative duties as necessary.
  • Make rounds with physician as needed.
  • Ensure physicians record and sign progress orders on a timely basis in accordance with current regulations.
  • Fill out and complete accident/incident reports.
  • Ensure that routine documentation is in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  • Make daily rounds of your unit during your shift. Monitor medication pass and treatment schedules.
  • Review nurses notes to ensure that they reflect the resident response to care provided in accordance with the resident needs and wishes.
  • Make periodic checks to ensure that prescribed treatments are being properly administered to evaluate the resident's physical and emotional status.
  • Participate in the preliminary and comprehensive assessment of the nursing needs of the resident and develop a written care plan. Ensure that established post- mortem procedures are followed.
  • Administer professional services in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Review and ensure that the resident’s care plan in being followed when administering care.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Comply with resident rights ensuring that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Active license as a Registered Nurse
  • 1 year experience in long term geriatric nursing care
  • Experience and/or training preferred Language
  • Must function as a team member and have flexibility.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with personnel, residents and all visitors.
  • Show dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendanceMust be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume.
  • Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills, and be empathetic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, responsible parties, staff and outside resources and agencies.
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Physical Capacities: (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Continuous bending, squatting, twisting and reaching.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.
  • Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires infrequent lifting of weight up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of carts and transporting residents.
  • Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly and/or emotionally upset, and/or memory impaired.
  • Must be able to manage resident behavior that includes verbal outbursts, combative behavior, striking out, and memory impairment

Environmental conditions: Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
