Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse's license for the state of Ohio is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years, hands-on patient care in a hospital or physician’s office is required; surgical experience is a plus, plastic surgery experience a plus+.
  • Please, don’t apply if only experience is in call centers or nursing homes.
  • EMR experience required, EPIC experience a plus.
  • Appearance is very important; our patient population looks to us for aesthetic guidance and our employees are a reflection of the office.
  • Strong problem solving and quick critical thinking skills needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office environment while seeing patients yet stay focused and productive during slower non-office days.
  • Effective communicator. Keeps fellow team members aware of ongoing situations; all office staff and doctors need to be on the same page in caring for patients and/or preparing for surgery.
  • Need to be teachable; recognize that no one has all of the answers, that we can all learn from each other, and that defensiveness while discussing mistakes or problems shuts down communication.
  • TAKES INITIATIVE!! Plans ahead to proactively get work done. Doesn't wait for someone else to point out a necessary task and then ask for it to be completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Room patients, review their medical history, document any updates to their EMS files.
  • Discuss and review the procedure(s) and answer any general questions.
  • Take patient photos needed for insurance/ surgery.
  • Inform doctor of patient’s medical background, reason for visit, any complications and/or concerns prior to consultation.
  • Take notes during consultation, documents actions needed.
  • Responsible for entering orders for pre surgical tests & prescriptions into EMR, sending requests for medical clearance.
  • Maintains communication with patients prior to procedure and after, during follow-up care.
  • Begins post-operative visit review, may perform suture removal and/or dressing changes if needed..
  • Will become knowledgeable of all injectable products, their uses, post injection instructions, possible complications and how to resolve them; required to educate patients on all subjects, determine products needed to address patient concern, and make suggestions for treatment.
  • Maintains patient charts for upcoming procedures, verifies all paperwork has been completed and returned.
  • Assists in maintaining stock levels in exam rooms, keeping instruments cleaned/sterilized, printing patient photos for charts, answering phones and scheduling patient appointments, (not primary responsibilities but required to assist with them).
  • Always have a "Team" mindset with regard to office work; assist other staff when needed, (if available).
  • Handles difficult situations/conversations with calm, thoughtful responses, without defensiveness or anger.
  • Able to accept constructive input from physicians and managers and to own their mistakes without placing blame elsewhere or becoming defensive.

*Occasional calls from post-operative patients over the weekend occur but the weekends for handling these calls is rotated between nurses and we always have a Cleveland Clinic plastic surgery resident on call for assistance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.50 - $38.00 per hour
