Responsibilities

  • Primary coverage banker for the US subsidiaries of Japan and Southeast Asia headquartered corporate client groups. Responsible for working with the Global Account Manager/GAMs to deliver the SCB network to our corporate clients in US.
  • Accountable for revenue, profitability and risk acceptance of the client entities / buying centres at a country level.
  • Facilitate collaborative working across the Bank by working closely with GAMs, Industry and product partners to provide holistic and well-designed solutions to the client
  • Along with GS Americas Head, actively contribute to helping uptier our junior talent in the Bank

Strategy

  • Contribute to the development & implementation of the client strategy for the designated portfolio as identified through the Account Planning process
  • Strategize and execute optimal product and client mix of existing portfolio to maximize revenue and returns

Business

  • Lead the new client onboarding as well as uptier & cross-sell to existing client relationships driving growth within the GS Americas portfolio.
  • Proactively manage the portfolio including client and product partner engagement to ensure higher limit utilization and meet the returns expectation
  • Directly originate new business transactions and ensure end to end process is adhered to
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of clients’ business, banking needs, banking footprint, buying centres and decision-making process.

Processes

  • Ensure all relevant client team members/ internal stakeholders are appropriately engaged with respect to the planning and communication of the relevant strategy for each client
  • In partnership with the Credit Analyst, identify clients that requires enhanced oversight and resolution
  • Key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework
  • Proactive engagement and management of internal deal teams (all relevant product and functional partners) for complex transactions. Ensure all sensitive deal information is managed and treated confidentially
  • Ensure all call reports are loaded in a timely manner and deal pipeline is kept up to date.

People and Talent

  • Develop junior team members through on the job training and informal discussion sessions on key areas of focus
  • Manage and develop internship candidates and graduates on rotation through GS team
  • Be a champion for our Brand, Culture & Conduct.

Risk Management

  • In partnership with the Credit Analyst, complete on-going monitoring in line with evolving business environment and ensure risk triggers and transaction covenants are satisfactorily reviewed and attended to
  • Maintain portfolio credit quality by ensuring regular credit review are conducted, monitoring risk concentrations and early identification of problem situations
  • Work closely with clients to understand buying behaviour and needs to right size limits and ensure optimal usage, maximise client RoRWA and reduce drag on assets
  • Actively undertake tail management of client base to ensure that clients remain on strategy and relevant.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank policies and procedures
  • Ensure that key regulatory risks and concerns are raised through the governance framework and contribute to risk mitigation efforts
  • Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate escalation to Country Banking Heads and Group/Governance Committees, as appropriate
  • Work closely with legal to ensure documentation compliance and the Bank’s interests are adequately protected under facility documents.
  • Work closely with GSAM on stressed accounts ensuring a smooth transition to protect the Bank’s interests.

Qualifications:

  • Language Proficiency in Japanese and English
  • 8 – 12 years of Corporate Banking experience
  • Strong credit assessment and structuring skillset
  • College Degree, Masters/ Graduate degree preferred
  • US SRO (FINRA) Registration(s): i) Securities Industry Essentials – SIE Exam, ii) Series 79 - Investment Banking Representative Exam and iii) Series 63 – Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam. To be obtained within 90 days of joining (if not already held)

Expected annual base pay range for the role is $160,000 - $200,000. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location.
