JOB TITLE: Warehouse Mechanic / Repair Technician

SUMMARY: DAWSON is looking for the next Warehouse Mechanic / Repair Technician to support our federal customers. This position is in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Warehouse Mechanic / Repair Technician will be responsible for preforming maintenance and repairs on material handling equipment to include but not limited to; Pallet Trucks, Electric Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, Reach Trucks, Burden Carriers, and Work Assist Vehicles used through FFD’s National Capital Region (NCR) facilities located in Franconia, VA, Washington, D.C., Cheverly, MD, Quantico, VA, and Winchester, VA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects fleet to ensure equipment is operating properly and safely.
  • Identifies and quarantines equipment requiring repair, notifying supervisor of inoperability.
  • Performs regular maintenance on the fleet to include preventative maintenance.
  • Removes unsafe equipment from facility operating area and notifies supervisor.
  • Repairs equipment as needed.
  • Maintains a stock of regularly required materials for repair.
  • Notifies supervisor or required stock and job specific materials for order in a timely manner.
  • Manages received materials and provides necessary invoice fulfillment information. (Date received, quantity, condition)
  • Evaluates equipment upon completion of repairs, prior to return to service.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and notifies sit POC’s of upcoming visits to complete maintenance, evaluations, and repairs.
  • Ensures the MHE storage and maintenance areas at each site are kept in a safe and effective manner, Notifies supervisor of potential enhancements or concerns.
  • Maintains repair log for fleet of equipment and verifies completion of daily checklists.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of mechanics training course required.
  • Must be a certified technician.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to repair equipment.
  • Ability to read repair manuals for various types of equipment.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the material handling equipment needing repairs or maintenance, to include kneeling or lying on back.
