SUMMARY OF REPORTS AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS RESEARCH LOGISTICS ANALYST:
***THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE. ***
The Reports and Political Affairs Research Logistics Analyst provides support to the RPA team. The Contractor assists in research projects related to human trafficking, including the collection, structuring, and analysis of relevant data. The Contractor manages production of the annual Trafficking in Persons Report, including drafting country narratives, as needed. The Contractor may assist with various administrative tasks and supporting RPA staff in planning trips.
Performs administrative tasks including writing different documents; research; travel planning and logistics; event planning and execution; meeting management; and data collection, structuring, and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF REPORTS AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS RESEARCH LOGISTICS ANALYST:
- Conducts detailed qualitative and quantitative research on: Human trafficking issues globally and governments’ efforts to confront these challenges; and special issues that affect multiple countries or regions, such as human trafficking in the fishing, agricultural, logging, or mining sectors.
- Prepares and/or edits documents including TIP Report narratives, briefing checklists for principals, letters, and other reports.
- Prepares charts, graphs, or other visual representations of analyzed data for publication. Routinely compile and track statistical data on global anti-trafficking law enforcement and victim protection efforts for the development of these products.
- Prepares quarterly reports demonstrating reports team performance, for compilation of Department and broader USG reporting on official anti-trafficking efforts. Tracks data related to strategic priorities of Office and individual team initiatives.
- Assists in the management and coordinating of the production of the annual TIP Report.
- Serves as RPA’s liaison with the Department’s Office of Global Publishing Solutions (GPS) to monitor and assist with the graphic design and layout of the TIP Report.
- Briefs the J/TIP Front Office on details of ongoing publishing process and relay executive decisions to GPS team.
- Finds and collects photos for use in the annual TIP Report and secure the rights to use such photos.
- Organizes meetings to review the production of the TIP Report.
- Oversees and coordinates office-wide proof reading of entire publication and final product review.
- Works closely with the Senior Coordinator and Team Deputies to ensure smooth process.
- Coordinates with Public Engagement team and takes the lead on specific projects related to TIP Report launch events.
- Provides support for developing policies, including drafting documents, and conducting analyses, feasibility studies, and strategy options.
- Provides services to support the development of regulations and legislative proposals pursuant to specific policy direction.
Travel Planning and Logistics
- Supports RPA staff in planning official travel by working with J/TIP’s RMP team, E2 Solutions and Carlson-Wagonlit to book flights, helps acquire visas from foreign embassies, answers travel policy questions and supports other logistical elements of travel.
Administrative Activities
- Performs a variety of administrative duties and assists in the discharge of these responsibilities using mission knowledge of J/TIP activities.
- Prepares briefing materials, compiles and pouches appropriate materials for use by RPA staff during overseas travel, take official notes during meetings, schedule meetings, delivers paperwork to the Harry S. Truman Building, shred documents, etc.
- Participates actively in administrative planning and implementation of J/TIP-hosted events, such as the receiving of foreign delegations and the Secretary’s launch of the annual Trafficking in Persons Report.
- Based on the needs of the office, accompanies RPA staff to foreign locations to staff meetings, takes and compiles detailed notes, or assists with the logistics of hosting workshops or trainings.
EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE OF REPORTS AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS RESEARCH LOGISTICS ANALYST:
- Bachelor's Degree
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES OF REPORTS AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS RESEARCH LOGISTICS ANALYST:

- Successfully pass a federal background check
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues in a timely and concise manner, both orally and in written form.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise within the J/TIP Office and with other Department bureaus and offices as well as external organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to perform data analyst tasks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in research, writing, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer and web-based applications including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
- Experience with advanced functions in Excel or statistical software (e.g. R and RStudio) is a plus, but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform administrative tasks.
