Position Summary:
An applied data scientist position is available for a DoD funded research project under the supervision of Dr. Senjuti Basu Roy in the Big Data Analytics Laboratory (https://centers.njit.edu/bdal/node/62/) at the Computer Science Department of the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The goal of this position is to develop data management and applied machine learning solutions and develop web-based dashboards to quantitatively achieve CNO availability process milestones.
Essential Functions:
Data ingestion, cleaning, and preparation, building ML models, conducting experiments, and preparing algorithms for deployment
Additional Functions:
Presenting at team meetings and other collaborative venues to showcase results and demonstrate progress
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Applicants must have strong background in data management and algorithm design, data mining, applied machine learning, as well as be equipped to implement web-based software and dashboards. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in naval applications.
- The position is open to graduating M.S. students in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position
