Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Research Associate II to support our analytical biochemistry team. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise in analytical chromatography and mass spectrometry to advance our gene editing platform by providing key insights into the synthesis, impurity profile, purification, and structure-activity relationships of oligonucleotides, including gRNA.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop methods on characterization of nucleic acid therapies and
  • components thereof (DNA, gRNA, and mRNA) with an emphasis on chromatographic methods (IEX, IPRP HPLC/UPLC & SEC), mass spectrometric methods (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS), and electrophoretic methods (agarose, PAGE, CE)
  • Develop methods for the extraction and quantitation of nucleic acid, lipids, and their metabolites from cells and complex biologic matrices (serum, plasma, and tissues) using LC-MS
  • Perform validation, QC, and optimization of new nucleic acid reagents and precursors
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments, including HPLC/UPLC systems and mass spectrometers
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of experiments and results in the form of ELN entries, reagent inventory and registry, and written reports
  • Communicate key findings in group and cross-functional team meetings. Need to be well-organized and work independently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field, or BS degree in a similar field and 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong hands-on skills, organizational skills, and attention to details in laboratory benchwork
  • Fundamental knowledge in organic chemistry and analytical chemistry
  • A learner’s mindset with a commitment to personal growth and a drive to broaden technical skills and scientific knowledge
  • Willingness to invest in communications and scientific engagements with colleagues
  • Ability to think strategically, efficiently manage time and workflows, and work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the characterization of mRNA and Lipid nanoparticles
