Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™, has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join our team at our Salinas location in Puerto Rico. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinate and satisfy the requirements of export and import shipments across the center ensuring at all time compliance with our core values.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate, supervise and execute all activities related to shipping and receiving seed and non-seed shipments across the center following Safety and Environmental requirements and Corteva policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractor’s daily activities and inform to superior supervisor any performance issues for proper management.
  • Facilitate training to contingent workforce and coordinate all their activities in shipping, receiving, seed treatment and seed fumigation.
  • Coordinate, supervise and execute seed treatment and fumigation activities to accomplish Salinas’ Research Center needs and keep records according to safety standards.
  • Maintain updated all data related to shipping, receiving, seed treatment and fumigation at the center according to company’s requirements.
  • He / She needs to have an excellent relationship with both internal and external contacts, to assure all activities related to shipments, seed treatment and fumigation are completed on a timely manner.
  • Responsible of communicating the superior supervisor any issues or needs regarding the assigned tasks. Collaborate with Labor coordinators and other supporting areas to assure the information follows appropriate communication channels.
  • Follow company training and education program and contribute to company profitability through innovation and self-initiative. Might perform other duties as assigned.
  • Planning different tasks in the short, medium, and long term.

Qualifications

What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5 years of work experience in seed handling.
  • Capability to perform a minimum of 8 hours per day and weekends if needed.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and ability to perform basic and occasional equipment operations.
    Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (Ability to speak, read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions).
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good individual leadership skills including excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks accurately as a part of a team and individually.
  • Ability to accomplish multitask activities, simultaneously.
  • Able to perform field tasks, sun exposure, walking uneven surfaces, bending, and lifting to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to pass medical exams required for the appropriate use of the Protective Personal Equipment needed to perform Seed Fumigation and Seed Treatment.
  • Ability to realize these operations using $US dollar units, and other measurements like pounds, volume, and distance.

The following are preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration or management related area.
  • Supervisory skills or experience leading a team.
  • Forklift Operator experience.
  • Familiarized with seed packaging and labeling.
