Key Responsibilities:
- Handle incoming phone calls from the Foreign Language Desk (FLD) that include booking global itineraries and answering inquiries from customers
- Efficiently handle special requests; assist all customers including those with disabilities using United guidelines
- Apply customer service and sales techniques to effectively address customer needs
- Consistently deliver a standard-setting product to our customers
- Maintain statistical excellence in all areas to support productivity goals
- Be accountable for all scheduled telephone time to meet service level goals
- Maintain an ergonomically correct work area
- Starting Hourly Wage $20.01 based on the Passenger Service Agreement Contract.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Must possess a high school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Fluent in Italian (written and spoken) (language assessment test will be administered)
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be flexible to work any shift within a 24-hour period including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Able to attend a full-time (8 ½ hour) training class within a 24-hour period at our reservations center in North Houston, TX Or Chicago, IL
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Previous customer service experience required
- Must have experience using computers, including MS Outlook and Office Communicator (Instant Messaging), Skype, Teams
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
- Must agree to follow all established United policies including those found within the Working Together Guidelines, Reservations Handbook, Drug and Alcohol Policy, and other applicable United policies and rules
- Must be able to pass a 10-year security background check
