JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Residential Care Specialist /Life Skills Coach
Reports to: Vice President of Financial Assistance and Residential Services
FLSA:
Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Vice President and/or Case Manager, the Residential Care Specialist is responsible for meeting the daily basic needs of up to six (6) residents in an independent living program. The ages of the residents are from 16 to 21 years and the average length of stay is up to 18 months.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor medication compliance.
- Document medication log.
- Document appropriate log entries as required.
- Provide transportation during shift for client needs and program functions.
- Handle crisis and emergency situations in an appropriate manner; contacting other staff, police, etc., as deemed necessary. If an outside agency is called , the program director will be contacted immediately.
- Oversees/ supervises all house activities, chores, cooking, cleaning, etc.
- Conduct room checks three (3) times per hour.
- Conduct facility check (house run) every hour.
- Check facility to ensure that it’s in an appropriate condition at the end of each shift.
- Possess the ability to facilitate/ participate in group as deemed necessary by supervisor.
- Provide feedback to case manager and other staff.
- Oversees house security.
- Instruct/Coach youth in life skills such as cooking, cleaning ,employment, and transportation readiness skills, etc
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or a G.E.D.
- Minimum of one to three (1-3) years’ experience working in an adolescent/young adult program.
- Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitation.
